AB Opens Fall Season with 5-4 Victory

After falling behind 4-1 through the first four innings, the visiting Team AB scored three runs in the fifth on a walk and three hits to tie the game. Third baseman David Webster (Alvirne) hit a key two-run double in the rally. With the score tied, pitchers James Machado (Dracut) and Matt Morais (Bishop Guertin) shut down the Salem offense by recording strike outs for six of the final nine outs.

Team AB scored the winning run in the top of the seventh on some good base running by Webster. After reaching on an error, he moved to third on a single by Donald Maffee (Nashua South). The next batter hit a ground ball to third and Webster took off for the plate after the fielder threw to second base to attempt a double play. The second baseman tried to cut him down at the plate, but he beat the throw to give Team AB the lead.

Morais finished with the win on the mound pitching the final two innings. Addison Hanscom (Nashua North) had two of AB’s six hits.

AB Drops Game Two 6-2

Despite out-hitting Salem 5-2, Team AB was hurt by striking out 8 times at the plate and issuing 10 walks to Salem hitters in game two of their doubleheader. Offensively, Ryan Gendron (Nashua South) and Donald Maffee (Nashua South) both hit long doubles for AB.

Salem (playing as the visitor) jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead after two innings, then opened up a 5-1 lead in the fourth when AB made two errors and walked three. Both teams added late runs to make the final score 6-2. Of the six runs that Salem scored, four of the hitters reached on a walk, one reached on an error and only one reached on a hit.

Team AB returns to action next Sunday at Bedford.

Private lessons allow instructors to dig deep into each skill, working with athletes to communicate the specific mechanics and why each skill needs to be performed. Ultimately, athletes need to understand and own their skills and private lessons are the quickest way to move through failure and trial and error processes.

Athletes who come in for private lessons are expected to attend each session with proper attitude, concentration and effort. When athletes come in, they need to be ready to work hard as we will be working with you to improve your skills.

Biggest benefits of private lessons:

Intense, focused instruction from highly qualified instructors

Video analysis used as needed to provide additional feedback

Dealing with specific issues – can be physical or mental

* All first lessons are used as evaluations where athletes are tested, filmed and provided with a written analysis. Evaluations are required before starting private lessons and allow instructors make recommendations on next steps in athletic development moving forward.

The Baseball Memberships provide players with access to college/professional style workouts. The memberships give players access to the programs needed to take their game to the next level. Baseball players in our membership are part of community of dedicated athletes stretching across many towns and high schools.

The membership is a year-round commitment to player development. Players will choose a defensive position to work on and will focusing on developing their skills according to this position. Multi-sport athletes are welcome to this membership, especially if they plan to play baseball beyond high school. Athletes are expected to maintain good grades and make sound decisions off the field.

The biggest benefit of this membership is the long-term approach to player development. While players will see initial results, the focus is on building successful baseball players who are as prepared for high levels of competition. Players will develop and succeed at different paces, but ultimately we are preparing athletes to contribute to their teams and showcase their skills to college coaches and scouts.

The membership is designed for high school and middle school baseball players. These players must be serious about playing baseball after high school. The players are committing to a lifestyle as much as a baseball program. Players who are not serious or do not have the passion to work hard will not enjoy this membership… But players who truly “want it” will get into our programs and never want to leave!

Strength & Conditioning Memberships are for athletes seeking increases in athletic performance. The membership teaches athletes proper technique and builds athleticism through same and effective techniques under the direct supervision of A.B.’s Strength & Conditioning Coach Austin Wasserman. The programs are sport-specific and catered to the individual athletes. Members will be surrounded by other athletes, creating an environment where motivation and competition is high.

All athletes in the Strength & Conditioning membership are pre-screened for potential injuries. This allows necessary protocols to be administered to help ensure the long-term health of the athlete. You need to be healthy so you can practice and play!
