AB’s Hitter Development Program is coordinated by Bobby Tewksbary. This program is a comprehensive, high-tech approach to teaching hitting. This program features a set of tools and techniques that is truly unique to AB. Hitters seeking to enroll in this program are expected to be very passionate about hitting and becoming better.
The concept of this program is to first identify how a hitter moves and responds to pitches through an assessment. This assessment includes using high-speed video, 3D motion analysis, Athos EMG analysis of muscle activity and hitting performance baseline testing using our Hit Trax Simulator and Diamond Kinetics sensors.
Once we have a clear picture of how the hitters move and their needs, hitters will complete training sessions two days per week.
Initial enrollment will be limited as follows:
- Class of 2017 – 2020: 10 hitters each
- Class of 2021 – 2024: 4 hitters each
Additional availabilty and sessions will be added after initial members have completed assessments. Hitters will be required to complete an “on-boarding” program through the TewksHitting.com website.
Session Details & Commitment
The Hitter Development Program will begin the week of September 12, 2016. The program will run for 7 months through the end of March. Additional sessions will be added around holidays.
Athletes will work in groups of three through three separate hitting stations. Each hitting station will be 20 minutes long and drills will be varied and high energy.
Hitters will be required to make a minimum commitment of 3 months. Space for this program is limited and if players drop out their spot will be filled.
